Guide combs clip on for 2mm to 12mm if you want visible length on purpose. All of it is waterproof, so you can trim wet in the shower or dry on the couch, and the only running cost after that is a replacement blade about every 3 months.

The blade isn't the difference, the shape is. A beard trimmer is built for a flat jaw and a fixed grip. A body trimmer has to work around curves, folds and places you can't see, which is why the head is smaller and the handle is a different shape. If you already own a beard trimmer, try it before you buy anything.
